Through ideating and simple prototypes, multiple weather protection plans were developed that is centralized around the needs, wants and concerns of living in Vancouver.
We mapped out various scenarios where situations could occur and how our weather protection ideas would help us minimize and ease out the issues.
The rain shields are now designed to provide protection between public transportations and public facilities, such as, shopping malls, theaters, and coffee shops. To further explore our rain shield journey, we created our shield prototype and acted out different scenarios. It helped us identify and answer major questions and to modify business plan and connect the touch points revolving our service design solution. This includes the setup, logistics of the shields and environmental concerns.
The theme for 2015 Global Service Jam is a guided instruction to fold an origami.
Inspired by the shape of the origami, the team gradually showed interest towards a direction that is tactile, contemporary, safety, and both personal and community involvement.
We interviewed both locals and visitors regarding their weather protection behaviours, and personal experience facing rainy days without raingears. We then presented our weather protection plans to receive feedbacks and questions. One particular idea received positive comments from all participants was the rain shield that provides temporary coverage between short distance destinations.
